HALLOWEEN PARTY 2014 : WHAT WE KNOW SO FAR & EXPECTATIONS

Note : Information for this post has been supplied from clubpenguinspace.com

As September draws to a close, what can we expect in October?? Well, we will have 2 parties in October, the annual Anniversary party (9th anniversary) as well as the annual Halloween Party! Over the last few days new information has emerged regarding the upcoming Halloween Party 2014, here is what we know so far!

Costumes

File:UpcomignOctober.png

We don't know too much about the costumes but from the UPCOMING EVENTS section in the Club Penguin Times, we have our first look at a witch outfit likely to be in this years catalog! It seems likely we will be getting new costumes as well as some classic old costumes. Another returning outfit will either be the blue dragon costume, the clown costume or the pirate costume - readers of the Club Penguin Blog had to vote between these 3 costumes in a You Decide poll, but witch will make it into the party?
Storyline

It appears Gariwald will make a reappearance from 2012 in this party. The storyline also seems to reference Ghostbusters?? Here is the official summary...

It all starts when Gariwald returns for Halloween. Gariwald is a ghost investigator, and there has been rumours of paranormal events at the Puffle Hotel. During the party, the Puffle Hotel will transform into a MASSIVE Haunted House with 13 floors. Gariwald ends up being kidnapped by... GHOST PUFFLES. To stop them, you have to collect pieces of Gariwald's Ghost Catcher which are scattered around the Puffle Hotel. Inside the Puffle Hotel, there is a basement, pool and more!
That sounds awesome! From the storyline summary we can confirm that : the Puffle Hotel will be the focus of the party, Gariwald has returned, the Puffle Hotel will have 13 floors which is already 13 party rooms confirmed, there will be Ghost Puffles and perhaps we can adopt them and finally there will be another scavenger hunt in this party! I can hardly wait :)

Script

The script shows that each floor to the hotel will have a task of some kind that will help continue the quest! There will be a maze, clues on the walls, secret messages, strange pumpkins etc. Click here to read through the script

That's about all we know from Halloween Party 2014 at this moment in time. But what are out expectations??
Expectations

I think it's fair to say Club Penguin will advertise this as probably the best Halloween Party ever!!! I'm really excited as there seems like a lot of activities/tasks in this party - some seem trickier than the sort of quests we've been getting recently in parties.

However, will the Puffle Hotel be the only decorated rooms for the party? If you take the Halloween Party 2012 (one of my favourite parties), there was a big mansion which had different rooms and was haunted with ghosts, but as well as the mansion, the rest of the rooms on the island were ALSO decorated. Will this party do the same? Well, the Music Jam 2014 and the School & Skate Party 2014 both had an area which was heavily focused on with the other rooms not being decorated music eg. The cruise ship for the music jam and then only 2 rooms decorated on the island.

I'm hoping the rest of the island will be decorated for this party because this is the 2nd Halloween Party since CP updated all of their rooms, I don't see why the same rooms as 2013 could be used? The 2013 decorated rooms had lots of scary details but if they did return, the use of neon lights should be dialled down as well as removing the candy element to transform. Although saying that, I would love for the transformations to return as well but in a different fashion. I'm also expecting every outdoor room to use the stormy sky. Perhaps if the 2013 decorated did return, there should be a few extras as well as the puffle hotel :)

It also appears The Night Of The Living Sled will return to the stage, if the other versions return it almost guarantees that there some rooms will be decorated other than the Puffle Hotel. I wonder if the 4th edition of the film will be released this year?

More information to be added as we get closer to the party, I can't wait!

SKATEPARK : ROOM REVIEW

When the School & Skate Party was announced, we were told that a new Skatepark room would be making it's debut as a new permanent room.

I seriously had my doubts about the new addition to the island as it seemed a bit pointless to have a Skatepark. But when the party started, I was pleasantly surprised...

I had a few doubts about this room before the party started : Where would it be placed? Would it replace another room? Would it be interesting?

Placement

The entrance to the room is to the right of the mine shack building which is great because it won't affect the community garden. The community garden has a lot of memories for me which was previously in the Mine Shack Room before the University was added. With the community garden not gone, Saraapril will have 1 less thing to complain about, we all know how much she loves protecting the environment :)

Design and Interaction

The room's design surprised me a lot! Instead of just using boring grey skate ramps, they are actually decorated with graffiti which brings much more life to the room and therefore making it more interesting. There is also plenty of interaction in the room as there are 3 areas where penguins can skate (marked with the arrows). The arrows are a great feature because when you click on an arrow and you are wearing a skateboard item, your penguin will do a cool skateboarding feature which makes the room realistic. It is more fun watching your penguin practise skateboarding tricks rather than walking up and down the ramps which is boring and not realistic!

Catalog

Hopefully, after the School & Skate party ends, there will be catalog available in this room just like the one in the Cove with surfboards but with skateboards in this room. Right now when you click where the catalog could be, you are taken to the party menu. I expect there will be a catalog because without skateboards for sale, how else will penguins be able to use this room in the future?

Future

I don't think there is anything more Club Penguin could do to add to this room. However, I think it would be great if this room was decorated for parties! The graffiti could change for each party with a different design eg. a Halloween themed design for the Halloween Party 2014!

In Conclusion

This room exeeded my expectations. It allows lots of interaction and role play in the room instead of the usual waddling around. It has potential to be decorated in the future unlike newly added rooms eg. Puffle Park. Although I think it should remain a party room, I don't mind it staying after the party anymore because it is quite enjoyable. But will it lose popularity after the party finishes? Who knows.

Let me know what you think of the Skatepark in the comments!

NEW PARTY IDEA : OPERATION EVACUATION

For the last 3 years, Club Penguin has created a new EPF operation which takes place in the form of a party. First there was Operation : Hibernation in 2011 then Operation : Blackout in 2012 and finally Operation : Puffle in 2013. Hopefully there will be a new operation this November since the EPF parties are the most interesting and exciting! If there is a new EPF party this year I'm sure it's already being planned. However, I still want to share an idea for an EPF operation that I have!

http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20131114221404/clubpenguin/images/1/1d/OPPuffleLogo.png
I think Herbet has been a little overused lately with the EPF. The EPF are secret agents but they're also the protectors of the island. What if their newest enemy is actually a natural hazard, a tornado...

Operation : Evacuation

Storyline :
- The Club Penguin Times receives word that a huge storm is brewing on the Club Penguin island. It is becoming clear that it will soon become dangerous to go outside. On the party launch, the CP Times gets further word that a huge tornado is about to strike Club Penguin and everyone should evacuate to a safe place. It is suggested to stay inside but the best place is to evacuate underground. The tornado hits Club Penguin during the middle of the party and areas of the island are destroyed! The great affect of the island has caused some of the sea level to rise and the dock, beach and cove are flooded.  In the Town and Plaza the buildings are damaged and need to be repaired. For the last week of the party, everyone needs to work together to help rebuild the island. Rory the construction worker helps out. After the island is rebuilt a small celebration is held in the Snowforts and banners and bunting are put around the island

Rooms :
- Underground rooms such as the Boiler Room, Underground Pool, Mine, Hidden Lake are converted as a safe shelter for penguins to stay away from the storm. The Boiler Room and Underground Pool have beds and blankets on the floor for comfort as well as an area for medical attention. The Mine is filled with supplies if we need them and Hidden Lake is where all the food supplies are kept. Above the ground, the island sky shows the storm and the Ski Mountain is the home of some of Gary's gadgets to monitor the weather. The lighthouse signals that it's time to go underground with the light spinning around and projecting light through the stormy weather. Rooms like the Town, Plaza and Forest are filled with safety notices with the forest also having a medical attention tent which will soon move underground when the tornado hits.

- When the tornado has hit, the rooms such as the Town and Plaza show the damage done. Once you log in, a video shows the tornado hitting. The Beach and Dock are also flooded. Ski Village has supplies to help with the rebuild and a fire engine is placed in the Snow Forts. For the rebuilding days, the island is slowly rebuilt each day you log in. The iceberg also shows the island in the background with it's damage.

- For the last few days of the party, a small celebration is held in the Snowforts and banners and bunting are put around the island

This party may not be perfect from what you've read but I think it's surely something to work from. Why was Operation : Blackout so successful? It had a great storyline, the whole island was affected and it showed progression through out the day's of which it took place.

It would of been cool if this party happened before 'The Journey' (remodelled rooms in Club Penguin) so that the rebuilt rooms are the remodelled rooms. But hey, it's still a good party idea for the future.

Would love to heard your thoughts on this party so please leave a comment telling me what you think!

THE MALL WILL BE A PERMANENT ROOM?

Today the School & Skate Party started and with the party launch brought many rumours. The main issue that has arrived is the Stage will be closed after the party and will be replaced permanently with the Puffle Berry Mall...

Personally I don't think the Stage will be replaced with the mall for several reasons :
  1. The Stage has been closed for other parties this year but once the party ended, has changed back to it's original design. eg. The Puffle Gala, CPTV. Why would the Puffle Berry Mall be any different?
  2. The change has not been announced by Club Penguin as of this post.
  3. Despite the Stage being not very popular in recent years and with the Mall having a very official look, if the Stage were to be updated I would have thought CP would continue the idea of plays and not just completely get rid of them.
  4. Even if the Stage isn't a very much used room, it still remains popular in the community.
  5. The Puffle Berry Mall's first draft was featured on the Club Penguin Blog last week and was described as a 'Party Room'

In my opinion, I think the Stage should be updated. Perhaps there could be a Cinema which would be a modern take on the stage. There could be 3 rooms inside : the main room where you buy food and get your tickets, then 2 films (plays) playing in seperate rooms. It would also be cool if you could still act inside the Cinema screen. If we couldn't act in the screen, i think an animated video should play, like the Night Of The Living Sled videos.

What do you think? Should the Stage be updated? Should the Puffle Berry Mall replace it? Let me know in the comments.
